In a house in 1980s Mexico, seven women from different generations fight to save their shared home, which is threatened with sale. Everything is portrayed through the eyes of eight-year-old Roberta, whose gaze captures both the struggles of everyday life and the magic of childhood.

Vanilla, inspired by director Mayra Hermosillo’s own upbringing, is a poetic and warm love letter to the women who shaped her. A touching story about family and belonging – where the playfulness of childhood collides with the seriousness of the adult world.
